I have a word blunder that I must recant. It happened quite recently and I was discussing something, I am not sure what exactly, but in amongst the conversation there was about the placement of something. Mid word I literally muddled somewhat and out came the new word "inbetwiddle” . Somewhere in between but approximately in the middle. The person I was with and I started laughing , it seemed like the perfect word and it’s meaning quite clear. I love wordsmithing but this little gem seems to hang around now as part of my personal lexicon. Also thanks for the memories, both the corner of Crown and Oxford St and just thinking of that Pasch’s sign and I am sure I must have seen that gate’s sign, cycling between The Cotter and Uriara Crossing.
I love inbetwiddle! I think it's genius, and am going to use it as often as possible. "So, was her dress green? Or blue?" "Um... inbetwiddle." "Was it a room full of rocket scientists, or nimwits?" "Nah, it was mostly people like you: inbetwiddle." 'nuff said!
Oh, Matthew -- You're a JIT writer (which is 'spose to mean Just In Time.) In a few days I attend a soiree on Travel Writers and I will bring copies of your essay here to gift all the discussants. Have already led them to your last essay & indeed, one among us will be diving into the writers you mentioned there. Forgive my intrusion, but I want to share something that has stuck to my funny bone ever since reading it in a Graffiti Allowed Here space at a bar (1971). Someone wrote: "My mother made me a lesbian." And just beneath that someone scrawled -- "If I give her the material, will she make me one too?"
Ha! I love this! That would have 'stuck to my funny bone ever since' as well! Reminds me of a lame routine a friend and I used to employ years ago in bars or restaurants, upon seeing some attractive looking guys. Either my friend or I would ask, "Do you think they're homeowners?" To which the other one would reply, "Not sure. But let's see if we can interest them in a mortgage!"
Thanks again for your support and for sending people my way. Very much appreciated, and I hope much fun will be had at this upcoming Soiree on Travel Writers!

I love words, and I particularly loved this one. Thank you.
Word lovers are always welcome here. Many thanks Cheryl!
